Get along to the pool now to join our first training block of the year
Wednesdays- Balclutha Centennial Pool 6pm-7pm
Some Saturday or Sunday mornings @ Kaka Point Beach
What's involved in training?
Over a 12 week period you will learn all you need to know to save a life at the beach. It is a very rewarding process and is a great way to give back to our community. There are summer job opportunities for experienced guards.
What are the requirements?
During the training process you will work on swimming 400m in under 9 minutes. You will demonstrate how to save a life at both the pool & beach. Some theory is covered, and a workbook is used to cover the information needed to sit the exam.
For anyone that is 14 years and older, or is turning 14 within the next 5 months
Free entry into the pool for any lifeguards and/or lifeguards in training (sign the book at reception)
Looking to make a difference but not quite ready for the water? Join us as a Patrol Support member! You’ll be part of the team, handling radio communications, providing first aid, patrolling between the flags, and so much more—all without needing to meet lifeguard swim requirements. We're especially looking for people to support our younger trained lifeguards during weekend patrols. It’s a great way to get involved, keep the beach safe, and contribute to your community.
