CASUAL Driver /Landfill Operator - Balclutha

WasteCo NZ Ltd offer a huge range of waste management services across the South Island, including medical & quarantine waste treatment, city sweeping, waste sorting on site to waste sorting at purpose-build facilities, Portaloo hires and waste collection. 

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented driver/operator for our CASUAL position at the Balclutha Landfill.

Role responsibilities

This role will be on an as required (CASUAL) basis, so the successful applicant needs to be flexible with their availability.

• Operate the side lifter wheelie bin truck (left hand drive)
• Operate loader and rubbish compactor
• Assist in the kiosk booths
• Follow specified transport routes as advised by Supervisor or Manager
• Complete prestart checks and a logbook entry daily
• Liaise with customers and escalate any issues to the Site Manager at Balclutha promptly
• Ensure paperwork is completed accurately at the end of each day
• Work and drive productively and safely following all WasteCo driving policies and New Zealand Transport rules
• Report any incidents to Site Manager Balclutha immediately
• Attend toolbox meetings as required
• Liaise with Manager regarding any fleet repairs

What we are looking for

• Class 4 drivers' licence is required, with W, T and R endorsements
• At least 1 year experience in a similar role is preferred, however not essential
• Someone with basic computer knowledge, and a positive friendly attitude
• Ability to manage multiple priorities that are time sensitive
• Good time-management, and strong problem-solving skills
• Someone who is solutions, performance and customer focused
• Great communicator, with excellent customer service skills
