Team Leader - Animal Assembly
About the Role
As a Team Leader in Stockyards and Animal Assembly at our Finegand site in Balclutha, you will be responsible for overseeing the arrival of animals to site during your shift and working with your team ensuring they have a clear understanding of daily production & animal welfare requirements.
The hours of work for this role may vary so interested candidates must be able to be flexible with the seasonal requirements of our business. Generally, the successful candidate will work between 3.30pm and 12.30am, but this will be dependent on the day-to-day processing requirements.

Te Mahi /Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the arrival of animals to site and effectively maintaining compliance paperwork
- Keeping animal welfare front of mind and ensuring that the team are proactively identifying and acting on any concerns
- Train and coach members of your team to understand what specifications and production targets mean and how they relate to the team member’s work
- Organise daily requirements in conjunction with your manager and clearly communicate this with your team
- Be active in daily production operations in the stockyards area

We are looking for someone who is a strong people leader; able to bring their team on a journey with confidence, as well as being able to have difficult conversations when required. You will be able to inspire team culture through leading by example and have a solid understanding of standard processes and principles with a strong focus on compliance and safety.

- Experience dealing with food processing, food safety and health & safety is important
- Any exposure to animal handling and welfare would be advantageous but not essential
- Basic computer literacy and strong communication skills
