The Punt at Tuapeka Mouth
Step back in time on the historic punt at Tuapeka Mouth.
Powered by the Clutha Mata-au River, this free public ferry runs daily between 10am and 2pm and is the only one of its kind remaining in New Zealand.
Its operation is dependent on the river level, and on a good river day it can even transport your campervan across. Keep up to date with conditions on the punt’s Facebook page.
Chat to operator Tom Jones all about this historical spot and how its connection between the towns of Balclutha and Lawrence remains a vital transport route even today.
