Nugget Point Lighthouse | Tokatā

On the lookout for your next dream selfie spot? Head to this iconic lookout, where the ocean meets the sky. 

Arguably one of New Zealand’s most famous lookouts, Nugget Point is perched on a platform overlooking the sea, providing panoramic views of the area's famous “nugget” rocks. Aptly named by Captain Cook because they looked like nuggets of gold. The short walk out to Nugget Point is an easy, accessible 1.8 kilometres return trip, suitable for the whole family. Nestled beside the viewing platform is the Nugget Point Lighthouse - one of the country’s oldest. While you are unable to enter the lighthouse, you can admire its historic stone or test your counting skills between the now solarised white flashes.
