Moturata Island Lookout

Moturata Lookout is a good place to stop and take in the ever-changing view of the river mouth and Moturata Island. The sand split is always changing whenever there is heavy rain in the hinterland and/or storms at sea. This pausing place has been created by the Taieri Mouth Amenities Society it has wooden seats, an information board about the island and a stone cairn with a memorial plaque for those who “lost their lives in pursuit of their endeavours.”
