McLean Falls

Tick the mighty and majestic McLean Falls off your bucket list!

Stretching 22-metres high, McLean Falls is a striking cascade waterfall - the highest of The Catlins' famous waterfalls. Some say McLean Falls is the most spectacular in the Southern region.

Walk upstream along the Tautuku River, through ancient podocarp forest and large tree fuchsias. The return walk takes about 40 minutes.

Keep an eye out for signposts for the falls along the Southern Scenic Route and access the car park via a gravel road.

Fancy going bush to the beach? Visit the falls then plan a visit at low tide to the nearby Cathedral Caves, one of the world’s largest sea cave complexes.
