Irahuka | Long Point Yellow Eyed Penguin Trust Reserve
Irahuka Long Point is located along The Catlins coastline. The Yellow Eyed Penguin Trust (YEPT) protects a 12 km stretch of this coastline.
Within this reserve is a prime yellow eyed penguin (Hoiho) nesting habitat, as well as New Zealand fur seals, sea lions and a number of sea bird species.
Annual monitoring of hoiho breeding is undertaken by the YEPT and volunteers.
This reserve is open to the public.
Please note: Dogs are forbidden from entering the reserve at all times.
