Curio Bay

Surround yourself in spectacular scenery and wildlife at Curio Bay (Tumu Toka), nestled on New Zealand’s southern coastline. As well as being home to a beautiful sandy beach, rare yellow-eyed penguins (hoiho), and a resident pod of Hector’s dolphins (Upokohue), the area is most famous for its stunning petrified forest - a World Heritage Site featuring a 170 million-year-old fossilised forest. Visit the Tumu Toko Curioscape, a world-class interactive centre created to share the unique story of this area. Enjoy the Gateway Experience Tour, the on-site cafe with a scenic sea view, or stay a while in the campground.
