Traverse the entire 135-kilometere trail between Roxburgh Dam and Lake Waihola over 2 to 4 days, or opt for shorter sections perfect for day rides. For an added adventure, the trail links with the Roxburgh Gorge Trail

The recently unveiled 62km extension between Lawrence and Waihola, inaugurated on August 25th, 2023,  connects the existing network of trails in Central Otago and Clutha with a cycle path heading towards the East Coast.

From whichever end you chose to start, this trail offers a real rural heartland experience combined with a wealth of history.  Pass through captivating landscapes, farmland, the bustling town of Milton, quaint settlements such as Waitahuna and Lawrence, a historic gold mining town echoing the pioneering spirit. 

Delight in the company of the majestic Clutha Mata-au River. , boasting its striking turquoise hue, as you cover over 50km alongside its powerful flow. Your journey culminates at Lake Waihola, a protected wetland haven.
