Balclutha Bridge
The Balclutha Bridge is a well celebrated landmark in the Clutha District. Originally constructed in 1868 as a replacement for a ferry service that traversed the Clutha Mata-Au River, this bridge has served as a crucial link between Otago and Southland for over 150 years. The current version has stood proudly since 1935, and continues to provide an essential link between the town and surrounding areas, including the stunning Catlins coastline. Visitors can take a stroll across the bridge, marvel at the concrete arched structure, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Clutha River and surrounding countryside.
